Quinn Blog-Post 1-Thomas Quinn, father of Nellie Quinn Allen

The notebook from Margie and Aunt Helen tells us that my great-grandfather, Thomas Quinn, was born in Ireland just before Christmas (December 23) in 1823. 

The notebook lists his father as John Quinn, born March 18, 1789. His wife's name may have been Mary or Margaret. She is listed as being born about 1800.

Their children were:

Patrick born 1820
Thomas born 1823 (our great grandfather above)
Margaret born about 1824
Richard born about 1831
John born about 1833
Ellen born about 1836
Mary born about 1840

This entire family immigrated from Kilkenny, Ireland, to Illinois, and most are buried at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.  So- my next step was to travel back to Jerseyville and the cemetery at St. Francis Xavier to study the gravestones for clues. As much as I would love to make that trip and visit with my cousins there, for today I made the trip via findagrave.com!
